Tau Zeta Lambda

The Dominican Republic is distinguished by its dramatic geography, featuring the highest and lowest points in the West Indies. Its sprawling mountain ranges and rich, fertile valleys stretch across the landscape, mirroring the deep roots and expansive reach of the Dominican brothers within our fraternity. These roots are firmly planted in the principles of our fraternity, which resonate deeply with the core values of Dominican culture: the pursuit of knowledge, the undertaking of noble deeds, and a universal love for mankind.

The genesis of Tau Zeta Lambda was sparked by the enthusiastic participation of several Dominican brothers in the Vota Latino initiative, led by Brother Ramon Peralta for the 2020 Presidential Election, under the guidance of General President Ward. The significant involvement of Dominican brothers in this initiative illuminated our collective strength and the profound impact we could achieve in the Dominican Republic.

Brothers John Carter and Robert Farmer laid the organizational groundwork, while Bro. Marlon Ivey, the outgoing Florida District Director at the time, underscored the significance of our mission and advised on a strategic approach through the Southern District. The efforts to establish the chapter were further bolstered by incoming District Director Bro. Dr. Gregory J. Harris, Southern Regional VP Bro. Kelsy Rushing, and The Southern Region’s Fraternal Standards Committee Chair, Bro. Torrez Wilson, who all played crucial roles in organizing and securing the support necessary to bring Tau Zeta Lambda to fruition within The Florida Federation of Alphas. The chapter was ultimately established with the endorsement of General President, Bro. Dr. Willis L. Lonzer.

Chartered by descendants of Dominican immigrants who have embraced the LIGHT, Tau Zeta Lambda now seeks to give back to its homeland with gratitude. Our chapter’s objectives are clear and impactful: to extend and fulfill the promise and mission of Alpha Phi Alpha in The Dominican Republic. Adorning the letters of our beloved fraternity, the Brothers of Tau Zeta Lambda proudly embody and advocate for the ideals of Alpha Phi Alpha on Dominican soil.
